All HDS alumni are invited to attend the HDS Bicentennial Reunion, part of three days of celebration marking the Divinity School’s 200th birthday. Join us for sessions with faculty, the presentation of this year’s Gomes Honors, opportunities to tour campus, and lots of FUN with friends and classmates! Planned by the 2016–17 HDS Alumni/Alumnae Council, this is a once-in-200-years occasion not to miss.
Alumni must register online for the events of the bicentennial celebration and the alumni reunion. Discounted rates available through April 15!
8:30 am: Morning activities
Start your reunion day early with one of several offerings: a meditative morning reflection to center yourself for the day, a fun run from Harvard Yard to HDS to start things off on the right foot, or coffee and conversation for alumni in the ministry with faculty members from the Office of Ministry Studies.
9:30 am: Faculty-led classes
Go back to school with sessions taught by one of three incredible HDS faculty members, who are themselves alumni: Diane Moore, Matthew Potts, and Charlie Hallisey. Full descriptions with “syllabi” will be available in April for some good ol' fashioned Harvard course “shopping” before you arrive!
12:00 pm: Alumni ceremony and Bicentennial Gomes Honors
The Alumni/Alumnae Council will hold a ceremony to celebrate the HDS alumni community on the occasion of the School’s Bicentennial, including the awarding of the bicentennial year Gomes Honors.
1:00 PM: Festive reunion lunch and conversation circles
Join classmates from across the decades for good food and conversation. Topics will be chosen based on alumni interests, and you can voice your opinion in the registration page. Want to meet other HDS artists? Interested in political or social justice organizing? Let us know!
2:15 PM: In Conversation: The Bicentennial Gomes Honorees
Alumni/Alumnae Council Chairperson Christopher J. Hanson, MDiv ’10, will convene this year’s Gomes Honorees (to be announced in early March) for a moderated discussion about their time at HDS, their views on the importance of School, and their work in the world.
3:30 PM: Faculty talks
Professors Harvey Cox and Cornel West will each offer sessions related to their research and writing around current topics of interest. Don’t miss these fascinating presentations and lively discussions.
6:00 PM: Multifaith Worship: The “a little past noon service”
Join with alumni from across eras, denominations, and traditions for a service of readings, songs, and wisdom. Akin to the weekly Noon Service held now on campus, the service will celebrate the diversity of the HDS community. All are welcome!
7:00 PM: Theological Revue & Ralph’s Pub
Were you a star performer in Theological Revue at HDS? Did you chat about theology and philosophy over beers at Ralph’s Pub in Divinity Hall? Attend this lively, loving birthday roast of our alma mater with songs, acts, food, and fun to close the day!
Throughout the day
