Commencement Accessibility

There is a reserved and accessible seating section available for guests with disabilities in Harvard Yard on Commencement Day. In order to obtain tickets for the accessible seating area, students should exchange their general seating tickets at the HDS Office of Student Life on the second floor of Divinity Hall from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday.

In order to accommodate as many family members and friends with disabilities as possible in the reserved seating area, individuals with an accessible seating ticket will be permitted to have one companion accompany them into the accessible seating section. The companion must also have an accessible seating ticket. Harvard will make every effort to accommodate parents and guests without accessible seating tickets on Commencement Day, however accessible seating is limited and advanced planning is strongly encouraged.

For other questions or requests regarding available services related to Morning Exercises in the Yard, graduating students should contact University Disability Services by email at disabilityservices@harvard.edu. Seating in the accessible section is by ticket only. Because seating is limited, it is recommended that you email HDS Office of Student Life as soon as you know that any guests will need these services.

For arrangements or needs for access to Commencement activities coordinated by Harvard Divinity School, such as the Multireligious Commencement Service, the Diploma Awarding Ceremony, or the Commencement Luncheon, graduating students should email Katie Caponera, programming and events coordinator, or call Katie at 617-384.7571.
