Minneapolis Powwow Celebrates Belonging for Two Spirit, Queer Community

As part of a summer internship, Auds Jenkins, MDiv '24, reported on how the New Native Theater sponsored Minneapolis' second annual "Reclaiming Our Identities" Two Spirit Powwow, part of a burgeoning movement of powwows across the country that honor Two Spirit and indigiqueer (Indigenous and queer) people.

Two Graduating Students Honored with Buechner Prize

Harvard Divinity School is delighted to announce that the 2023 winners of the Buechner Prize are Rebecca Mendoza Nunziato, MDiv ’23, and Suzannah Omonuk, MDiv ’23. The prize is awarded annually to the two authors of MDiv senior papers whose work best exemplifies the religious and literary ideals of writer-theologian Frederick Buechner, who passed away in August 2022.

How I've Changed  

These last two years have taught me much about my heritage, character, and the critical life lesson of interpreting surrender as a form of strength instead of a form of quitting. For my Greek lineage, I grew deeper in my Greek Orthodox faith, taking a class at Hellenic College Holy Cross and modern Greek language lessons. How I've Changed  

HDS has given me the academic background and interpersonal experience to articulate the importance of religion in policy settings. HDS has also helped me expand my familiarity with my region of focus and given me the tools to work across cultures.
