Chance Bonar is serving as Instructor on Elementary Coptic for the 2020-21 academic year. He has previously served as a teaching fellow for various classes at HDS and Harvard College, including Introduction to the New Testament, Stories from the End of the World, and Orthodoxy and Heresy in Ancient Christianity. His dissertation in progress is focused on the Shepherd of Hermas, a second-century Christian text. Alongside this project, he also is involved in the publication of previously unknown or understudied apocryphal texts, such as 3 Apocryphal Apocalypse of John and Dialogue Between Jesus and the Devil, and spends time working with Greek and Coptic papyri.
