Brandon Thomas Crowley (pronounced "kroh-lee") is an African American scholar in ecclesiology and theology. Since 2009, he has served as the Senior Pastor of the historic Myrtle Baptist Church of West Newton, Massachusetts.
Reverend Crowley earned a PhD in Religion and Society and a Master of Sacred Theology from Boston University School of Theology, a Master of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School, and a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.
Reverend Crowley’s research seeks to construct specific types of methodologies and discourses of subversion which aim to intentionally disrupt oppressive forms of ecclesial and theological normalcy within Black churches. He has dedicated his clerical and academic careers to re-thinking the nature, mission, and practices of the Christian church at large.
In 2009, Reverend Crowley was ordained in the Progressive National Baptist Convention of America, Inc. In addition, he has written for the African American Lectionary.
