Wireless Networking and Printing

Wireless Internet access is available throughout the HDS campus for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. To see all Harvard University buildings with wireless access, view this campus map and look for buildings outlined in red.

How to connect to the HDS wireless network

For a list of the available wireless networks at HDS and instructions on how to connect to them, please visit the Harvard Wireless website. Members of the Harvard community with a valid HarvardKey can authenticate to the "HarvardSecure" network; others can register for guest access using the "Harvard University" wireless network.

HDS provides four color printers for use by HDS students, other Harvard affiliates, and cross-registered students from other schools. These printers are located:

Students and others with a valid HarvardKey may print from the public computers in the Harvard Divinity School Library or from their own devices after installing the necessary software. You will need a Crimson Cash account and either a Harvard ID card or a Crimson Cash generic "white" card to pay for printing. If using your own device, you must be connected to Harvard Secure wireless to install or use Crimson Print.

Printing from public computers in the library

Note: printing from public computers in the library is available for Harvard students, faculty, and staff, as well as for cross-registered students enrolled in Harvard classes. A system for guests with Harvard College Library Access Cards is in development.

  1. If you have not already done so, go to cash.harvard.edu and add funds to your Crimson Cash account to pay for printing and copying.
  2. If you have not already done so, follow the instructions for linking Crimson Cash to Crimson Print.
  3. If you do not know it already, look up your Harvard NetID. Your NetID is not the same as your HarvardKey or your Harvard ID number.

Printing from public computers in the library

  1. Use your NetID (see above) and your HarvardKey password to log on to one of the Windows computers on the first or second floor of the library. (Be sure to log out when you are finished.)
  2. When printing, choose Harvard-Crimson-Print as the printer.
  3. Go to one of the following printers and swipe the thick stripe of your Harvard University ID card to release your job. Your Crimson Cash account will be debited for the cost.

For more detailed instructions, see Set up and print with Crimson Print in the Harvard University IT Service Portal.

Printing from your own device

  1. Connect to the Harvard Secure wireless network. (If connecting for the first time, start at getonline.harvard.edu and follow the instructions under "I Have a HarvardKey.")
  2. Follow the instructions for setting up Crimson Print on mobility print printers. When selecting your printers in step 7, choose Harvard-Crimson-Print.
  3. If you do not have a Harvard ID card—e.g., if you are a cross-registered student from MIT, Tufts, or a member school of the Boston Theological Interreligious Consortium—obtain and load a generic "white" Crimson Cash card. See Value Transfer Stations on the Crimson Cash website for a list of locations.
  4. Follow the instructions for linking Crimson Cash to Crimson Print.
  5. Look up your NetID if you do not know it. Your NetID is not the same as your email address or Harvard University ID Number.
